SUMMARY:Ignite: somatic resources for these days of fire
DESCRIPTION:As a feminist\, woman of color\, and college teacher\, I ask myself how can I relate\, together with my students\, with the image of George Floyd\, which is at the same time everything beyond an image. How can we relate in all of our spaces to the vibrations in the streets during these days of fire? Many of my students are protesting\, others remain at home in solidarity\, supporting the struggle in whatever ways they know how. I myself\, for many reasons\, have not been out at the demos. But I stand in solidarity and know that what I’m here to offer are resources for keeping ourselves resilient in a long struggle\, that did not begin last week\, and that will not end anytime soon. Throughout the time of the quarantine I’ve been offering a somatic workshop for resourcing ourselves in these times. For the next two weeks\, I’ll begin a new offering\, called “Ignite” to participate in our times with somatic\, trauma-informed\, and politically attuned resources. If you’ve been out in the demonstrations and need to find some ground\, please come. If you’ve stayed out of the streets but want to participate in collective consciousness\, come. If you are frozen in fear because your body is by virtue of race a target of the state\, come. If you want to undo yourself in the midst of this moment\, come. Email me to subscribe for the link. \n2 weeks\, June 7 and June 14\, 11 am-1 pm PST on zoom.

SUMMARY:Creativity is Survival: a free virtual offering
DESCRIPTION:If there is one thing that we as a collective are now finally understanding\, it is that contact is medicine\, it is nectar\, it is healing. But in this pandemic\, it has been turned into poison. \nWhat can we do in the midst of this double bind? We do what we can—we zoom with our friends and beloveds. We dance with strangers on instagram. We cook with one another virtually. We applaud the health workers as they walk down the street to the hospitals. We kiss through the ether. And we listen to the sounds of the city expectantly\, hearing the slow swell of footsteps and car noises emerging from the silence as if they were the caresses of a lover. We open up our perception to something else. \nFeeling this something else is a visionary sense. It is where we can know at the core of our being that creativity is survival. \nI am leading my Embodying Creativity on Sundays\, 11 am-1 pm PST on Zoom as a free offering during this time of quarantine (the last two workshops will be May 24\, and 31). We will do embodied meditations\, subtle biodynamic movement\, and inquiry practices to help us to tune in to the depth of contact that is always available to us. I would love to see you there. Please share this website link with anyone you feel may benefit. To protect our space from zoombombing\, I am asking people to email me at anitachari@gail.com for the link or DM me at https://www.instagram.com/anita.chari.embody/ \nI hope to see you there! \n

SUMMARY:Embodying Creativity: How to complete your creative imprints and ignite your gifts (Class 4)
DESCRIPTION:Begin the New Year by metabolizing the creative imprints that hold you back in your work\, relationships\, and health\, and learn to use your creative challenges to ignite personal empowerment and deeper intimacy with yourself. In this workshop series\, which participants have described as “revolutionary\,” “a lifeline\,” and “life-changing\,” you will: \n\nPractice fluid\, biodynamic movement practices to release the pre-natal and early life trauma that impacts your creativity\, health\, and relationships.\nUse subtle sound and breath to activate the pleasure centers of your body and nervous system and heighten creativity at the hormonal and bio-chemical levels.\nReceive the physical and energetic contact that resources you to complete the unique creative sequencing patterns and relational imprints that challenge you.\nPractice inquiry and fluid writing/drawing practices that will ignite insight into the way that your own creative sequencing operates.\nDelve into creative archetypes that will provide clarity over how your unique creative gift serves in the world.\n\nWe are often told that we need to simply cope with our patterns or blocks. But in reality\, each of us has an immense capacity to complete the traumatic imprints that hold us back from growth and creativity\, an inherent health that comes online through presence\, contact\, and fluid movement. Give yourself the gift of this unique workshop and experience a new level of creative freedom. \nClass 3 – Creative archetypes: In this class you will explore the creative symbols and archetypes that give shape to your soul’s journey\, manifesting always both as challenges as well as nourishment for your creative path. Working somatically\, we will explore both personal archetypes (such as the orphan\, the scapegoat\, the saboteur\, the fool) as well as collective archetypes and symbols (the Medusa\, Khali\, ouroboros):  Which archetypes are you in service to\, and how have they repeated themselves throughout your life? You will learn the important of differentiating between the personal and transpersonal levels of your experience to give clarity to your creative path. Together we will practice a form of embodied writing\, using the collective field to nourish and inspire your creative projects for the year.

SUMMARY:Embodying Creative Process Series
DESCRIPTION:Jan. 29\, Feb. 5\, Feb. 12\nEugene Yoga\, 245 East Broadway\, Eugene\, OR\n$75 for the full series\nregister here:  http://eugeneyoga.us/seriesworkshops/\n \nBegin the New Year by engaging your creative blocks and challenges and amplifying your creative health in this unique workshop series.  Whether your passion lies in the realm of art\, writing\, health\, music\, or entrepreneurship\, learn to use your own creative process as a fulcrum for personal growth and deeper intimacy with yourself. In this workshop you will learn how to orient to the health of your creative process\, engaging with creative symptoms\, such as procrastination\, blocks\, isolation\, disorientation\, avoidance\, and a sense of inauthenticity\, as expressions of a deeper embodied process of creativity. When viewed from a process perspective\, these issues can be experienced within the context of a sequence of unfolding that has integrity and potency and that can be felt tangibly in our bodies. You will learn subtle\, fluid movement practices\, drawn from Continuum movement\, that are specifically designed to work with the embodied and phenomenological foundations of creative development. Through embodiment process work\, writing exercises\, and inquiry\, you will receive specific feedback about your own creative challenges and strengths and techniques for working through these issues in ways that are meaningful to you personally. By delving into creativity as an embodied process\, we will repair creative sequencing issues that will ultimately impact the form of your creative work\, as well as your relationship to that work.  This is a four-week workshop series. Each week we will explore a different principle of creative process. The Introductory session on Jan. 7 is free and open to all who are interested in learning about this work.

SUMMARY:Inaugural Healing: Shock\, Betrayal and the Social Nervous System
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, Jan 22\n12:15-3:15 pm (**Please note the change in time which may not yet be updated on the Eugene Yoga website—due to the Million Women March planned for the day before\, we wanted to make sure this workshop did not conflict with any major protests. Personal reflection and activism are not and should not be in conflict—thanks for your understanding).\nEugene Yoga\, 245 East Broadway\, Eugene\, OR\nsliding scale $15-45\,\nregister here:  http://eugeneyoga.us/seriesworkshops/\n \nThe 2016 US Presidential election has impacted us all deeply. Many of us remain in shock or denial\, even as we struggle to mobilize to act in the face of a political outcome we had hoped was impossible a short time ago.  We believe that it is crucial to work with our personal and collective shock and betrayal in the face of these events\, and in light of how they are impacting our personal lives at the deepest levels\, some of us more than others depending on our subject positions within this society.  In this Inaugural Healing workshop\, scheduled for the day after the upcoming Presidential Inauguration\, we will be holding space for this kind of work. When we are in shock\, we cannot mobilize\, and we cannot turn to one another\, which is exactly what we need to be doing now. In this workshop\, we will work on cultivating embodied resources for restoring our connection to the social nervous system\, and digesting and metabolizing our fear\, betrayal\, and anger\, so that we can respond to these political events in a way that is in alignment with our commitment to justice and democracy. We will work with movement practices\, somatic inquiry\, and embodied writing to creatively express the depths of political feeling that we experience in this moment as a collective.  You will leave with clarity regarding what these political events mean to you personally and how you are being called to respond politically. You will also learn practices for how to cultivate safety in whatever contexts you work in\, whether that be in the workplace\, at school\, or in social contexts. It has never been more important to experience the embodied aspects of what it means to be a citizen than it is right now. Please join somatic educator and Professor of Political Science\, Anita Chari for this powerful workshop.  \nRegister
